Best Valentine's Day ... ever

Today is Valentine's Day. My love had a dozen roses delivered to my office. That in itself was so wonderful. What really made me cry tears of joy was that fact that he had set it up before he left on his latest gig ... even going to the florist and inscribing a wonderful card to me.

Made me feel so loved that despite him being out of town today he wanted to make sure that I knew he was thinking of me lovingly. I truly feel that I am experiencing a new dimension and level of love with this very special man.

Today a friend of mine Steve Glavan, described what Valentine's Day was to him. I'd like to include it on my blog so I can remember it always because it really is describing how my relationship with Yossi is evolving. I've put my edits in red.

Today I get to celebrate Valentines Day for the 1st year with the love of my life. What have I learned? . . . that love is all about taking risks, putting your heart out there so that the bond between two people has room to grow. I've learned that love is more than a word, it is an action, demonstrated by how we live, how we treat each other and how we sacrifice for the good of another. And I've learned that Valentines Day can happen 365 days a year. When you're with the right person, every day is flowers, candy and snuggling in front of the fireplace. I love you, Yossi. Happy Valentines Life!

Snow and my pool

Crazy Dallas weather! Today the sun is shining but not after we have had 4 days straight of subzero weather. I can't wait to see my electric bill ... not. I feel bad for all the businesses who planned on hosting the thousands who were coming here for the Super Bowl on Sunday but probably had their flights cancelled.

What happened is it started raining, then sleeting, then a sheet of ice covered everything. So no school busses, school closed ... work closed. The craziest thing was the huge snow storm that dropped 6 inches on Thursday night. You can see it for yourself. My poor pool pump has been working over time. Finally this morning the kitchen faucet thawed out enough to start running again. Yeah!!!!! No burst pipes!

Super Bowl Sunday should be dry and sunny. However, I think another storm is rolling in on Tuesday ... sigh.

A Full Life

One of the easiest pitfalls is to think "I'll be happy when...." fill in the blank. I didn't realize that I'd fallen into that way of thinking until last night when I realized that I am actually very happy right now and to quit worrying that everything wasn't the way I wanted it to be. Is everything perfect in life? No - but who wants perfection. My life is perfect for me!

The best part of my life right now is being in an amazing, supportive, loving relationship with an intelligent, good looking, fun man. He is really my best friend and I don't think I would have made it through the past 6 months without his consistent love and support.

Thank you for everything.

The Silver Lining!

So the Monday before Thanksgiving I was just minding my own business waiting at a stoplight at NW Hwy and Inwood Rd. I'd just had my oil changed and the inspection completed. All of a sudden .... bam ... I was hit from behind. A 2010 BMW complete with a upper crust blonde Dallasite behind the wheel. Great news ,,, a Dallas Police car to my right. This came in handy after she took off - the officer chased her down and I got her insurance information.

The insurance company was somewhat reluctant but in the end took full responsibility and I was able to drop my car off to be repaired.

This morning I picked up my car from Herb's Paint and Body. Looked great .... and the silver lining? The crease I'd put in my trunk a couple years ago was magically gone!

So I've got a new front and rear bumper. Now all I have to do is stay away from poles and other cars.

More Home Ownership ...

Despite being sick with a cold all day yesterday, today I accomplished a lot Started off getting my christmas tree decorated. If I can muster up a picture I will.

Then I raked, swept and mowed up three bags of leaves off my tiny front yard. And there are still many more to pick-up. I love living with all these trees but really - how many leaves are there.

After that I took apart the pool filter and cleaned it. This is quite a job entailing taking the filter apart - hosing down all the filters (4) and then putting it all back together again. Luckily it was a warm day in the low 60's so it wasn't too bad doing this in December. However, let's hope I don't have to do this again until Spring!

Now a little nap before our second concert this evening. Love my house!

.4 pounds and 23 desserts

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. Yossi and I went to Burlison, TX to enjoy the holiday with his mother, step-father and all of the family. It was lovely - so much food! Turkey, stuffing, potatotes, rolls, pate, - you name it.

But wait ... dessert! Two amazing bakers together brought 23 different desserts to choose from. This was Yossi's mom Sahavah and her long time friend Varda. Pumpkin cake, lemon merigue pie, black forest cake, chocolate pecan pie, baklava, numerous cookies, desserts that I can't remember or prounouce the name of.

Now Becky and I committed to not eating sugar (I'm sure she has done much better than I have on keeping to this) and so I apologize for this ... but I could not, not have any of these desserts as I would have offended Yossi's mom immensely. I did escape without taking a plate home (though Yossi's plate is sitting on my kitchen counter).

Good news - down .4 pounds!

United Way and Gay Pride

A group from United Way, including myself, walked in a the annual Allan Ross Texas Freedom Parade. What is that? Only one of the biggest and most enthusiastic gay pride celebrations in the southern half of the United States. It's actually the formal name for Dallas Gay Pride, which this year celebrates its 27th anniversary (at least in its current form), with its celebration on September 19, 2010.

I will tell you - the crowd is super enthusiastic. They cheer for everyone. You felt like a rock star! United Way walked with Texas Instruments and other companies which are part of the Out & Equal group which promotes equality within the workplace.
