Christmas in California

For Christmas I went to California to visit family and friends. A wonderful time was had by all! Pictures tell the best story so here goes...

To my complete surprise throughout my mom's house were numerous wall hangings, wreaths and various holiday decorations I'd made over the years. It was fun to see them as I had completely forgotten I'd even made them!

Traveling to California

I love SWA, but sometimes you really have to take a round about way to get where you want to go. To get to California, I flew from Dallas to Kansas City - then Kansas City to Oakland, CA. The good news is after January 10th I will be an A-Lister. It is the closest I'll ever come to the Admiral's Club.

Avatar

Wow - was that a movie. I think James Cameron is going to break his record that he set for Titanic. Really amazing, very intense. Great story. The digital affects are breathtaking. You forget that it isn't real. I really couldn't believe it was almost three hours long either. Definitly not for the toddler set, not young children. Way too intense and they will feel bad about all the ... whoops - don't want to give it away.

Let me know what you think of it if you go!

Texas HS Football

Tonight I went to the Triple A Texas State Championship game at the SMU stadium. The gentleman I'm dating was a cameraman for the jumbotron show so I was able to watch the game from inside the press box.

The game was between Carthage, TX Bulldawgs (population 6,000) and Graham, TX Steers (pop 10,000). It was won by Carthage in the last minute, 13 to 12. This was their lowest scoring game for the entire season, usually scoring 40+ points, so Graham held their own despite being a much smaller team. What was amazing about this to me was the number of people who traveled great distances to watch these young men play. Carthage is just over the Texas border from Shreveport, LA and Graham is on the other side of the state near Wichita Falls. No one must be at home as they estimated 9000 in the stadium - more then the SMU football games!

Graham would have won it except their kicker had a blocked extra pt kick, a missed extra pt kick and 2 times with 4th and goal they went for the touchdown instead of a field goal. Apparently their kicker is kind of eradict He has never played football having played soccer all his life . When his family moved to little Graham from Pennsylvania and they didn't have soccer he decided to try football. All in all it was a cultural phenonmenon.

Grandchildren as Elves

I've had so much fun making dances with the "elfyourself" JibJab site. If I can figure out how to add pictures you will see all my grandchildren as elves.
Hey - I did it.
Not sure if anyone will care about reading my blog or not but I think it will be fun for me to do.
