Thin Mints...

How many of you love Thin Mints? I do! I do! It is Girl Scout cookie time. For those of you who don't know I sold the most Girl Scout cookies in my troop so I could win a crocheted kleenex cover.

I tried freezing them but they are great frozen.

What is it about McDonald's French Fries that is so satisfying? Is it that blend of crispy fries with just the right amount of salt - not duplicated at any other chain? Or is it that they only cost a $1? I will agree that they are America's Favorite Fries and on my way home this afternoon I couldn't resist buying a small bag! What are you favorite fries?
I found out that McD's fries are rated the healthiest of all! Only 230 calories, 11 g fat and 160 mg of sodium.

My New Home

Well, not quite yet, but soon. This represents at the same time freedom and an opportunity to put down roots. It is also probably the best time in history to buy a home. I've locked in at a 4.74% interest rate. I can hardly believe it!

While some of the designer touches are not my taste overall the house is perfect for me. It is 1400 square ft, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths - one car garage on a cul-de-sac in a great area of Dallas. Another hope is that this will be a place my children and grandchild will enjoy coming to.

The Amazing Cake!

Pictures tell the whole story....

Peter Pan Pirate Party Extravaganza!

Wow! Words can hardly describe the amazing birthday party I went to this weekend. Best way I can tell you about this is through pictures. Everything is the creation of Becky, my daughter. I'm crafty - she is a true artist. All I can say is she has set a new bar for children's bday parties in Oklahoma City!

As you entered the house there was Peter - flying high. Wendy and her brothers gazed up in amazement.
Below are some other decorations. I'll do a another post with the cake and food.

What's New Pussycat?

Yes - I went to see Tom Jones tonight at the Myerson Symphony Center. He is still "the Voice". He sang all my favorites and then some. All throughout the concert mature women kept tossing panties onto the stage. Then during "What's New Pussycat" they all came down to the stage to toss their drawers. He was having a hard time not cracking up. The stage was littered with all kinds of panties. It was hilarious. Three years ago I saw him in Vegas and even with people indulging in alchohol at that concert there were only about 3 panty tossers at that venue.

As you can see from the photo, Tom has gone gray. He is 69 and it goes to show you are never too old to rock it!

Thrift Measures

So I'm trying to buy a house. It is an exciting yet very scary prospect. It is exciting to think of having my own on-going HGTV project. Scarey because it means I'm committing to living somewhere for at least 3 years. It is hard to believe I've lived here for nearly 9 months!

So buying a house means instituting some "thrift measures". I picked up this term from the person I wen to the Dallas Art Museum with. So what are some of the thrift measure I'm adopting and have been doing for some months ...

1. No more shopping at Nordstrom's, Christoper & Banks and Ann Taylor:

Actually no more clothes shopping until I REALLY don't have anything to wear. Course if I stick to biggest lose challenge I'll have an entire new wardrobe by Spring. My realtor told me she would tell me about all the great consignments shops in town. Now that will be something - me buying used clothing!

2. Limiting my air travel in 2010

If you recall an earlier post indicating that I'm now a SWA A-Lister - well I'm sure I won't be renewing next January. I will try to make it to every grandchilds Bday though.

3. Borrow books from the Library and 4. don't buy magazines
I think I must buy magazines every week. I know I bought an average of at least 3 for every trip I took so that alone was 40 magazines or more. Think of all the trees I'll save. It will be hard not being able to keep up with the latest on Kate Gosselin, but I'm sure I'll survive.
5. Eating up the majority of the food in my freezer and fridge before I buy more.
Isn't it interesting how you have nothing to eat in your fridge, yet there are food items on every shelf and your freezer is packed. What's up with that? Just so you know I'm not talking about the wilted and gooey veggies I buy, then inadvertantly let rot becaues I don't eat them. Those are just good intention buys that make me feel healthy and skinny.
Well - anyone have any other "thrift measures" they can pass on?
